Chapter 116 - Accept it[]
The months pass as the main cast prepare for their final-year exams that determine their futures. On Valentine's Day, despite both being busy studying, Sawako manages to give chocolates to Shouta for the first time at school, since they were at a home study period together. Later on that day, Sawako gets a message from Chizuru about her chocolate that she intends to give to Ryu, while also being informed by Ayane that the latter passed the entrance exam for Tokyo University. During lunch break, Ayane happens to pass by a confectionery, and ducks out of buying chocolate for Pin again, having done so twice before. Later on, Chigusa passes some photos of the shrine visit to Ayane, who exchanges a bag of potato chips to silence Chigusa about the contents of the photos. When she sees the photos privately, she notices herself smiling while around Pin, and gets nervous about reporting the exam pass. When Tomizawa reports her own exam pass to Pin, he asks if she's seen Ayane, and she denies. By home time, Ayane fails to report, leading Pin to assume that she didn't succeed.
When Ayane prepares to go home, Kento sees her at the usual station, reminding her that they used to be in a relationship. Kento hears of Ayane passing her exam, and congratulates her. He also says he was there at the shrine visit, noticing that Ayane was happy, and thus felt relief. Kento is therefore happy himself that Ayane has found someone she really likes. Kento then hears that Ayane hasn't reported her exam pass yet, and urges her to do so. On her way back, Ayane phones both Chizuru and Sawako for encouragement. But after buying some chocolate and returning to school, Ayane is informed that Pin had already left. Therefore, Ayane rushes to where she knows Pin lives.
Chapter 117 - All Right[]
Ayane ends up inside Pin's lodge, welcomed as a guest. After offering some tea, Pin states that he already knows what Ayane is here for, and cannot yield to her request. However, Pin also assumes that Ayane has failed the exam, to which Ayane has to tell him that she actually passed. This makes Pin mad that he wasn't told earlier, and also makes Ayane cry. After he calms down and they have tea together, Pin excuses himself to get prepared. This gives Ayane a chance to decide whether or not to give the chocolate. She gives in. When Pin comes back and wonders what the box is, he has to be reminded that it's Valentine's Day, by a tearful Ayane who finally confesses. On the spot, Pin opens the box and consumes the chocolates, before finally rejecting Ayane respectfully for being too young for him. Upon being asked, Pin also says he never thought Ayane was pretty. He then gives Ayane her eraser reward, and says that Ayane can be proud of herself, because he believes in her. On her way home, Ayane thinks about what she heard, and finally consumes the throat lozenge she kept with her all this time.
Chapter 118 - Treasure[]
Sawako and Kurumi's entrance exams for Hokkaido University of Education have come to pass. They pinky-swear that they will be happy for each other even if one of them fails. On her way back, Sawako bumps into her oldest-known acquaintance, Shino, who has been happy with Sawako's progress since the last time they met. Shino feels guilty for being the first to call Sawako "Sadako", thus having the ghost rumors follow her ever since, but Sawako claims that others would have called her "Sadako" eventually. Shino promises to see Sawako one last time at the graduation ceremony. Shouta then arrives, having done his exams. They decide to sneak into school while it's closed, to reminisce. Sawako notices several things, including the WC in which Ayane and Chizuru saved her from bullies, as well as where they sat in class during their first year. Sawako and Shouta admit to each other that their lives turned around ever since they met, and even after they graduate, they'll continue to make memories together. When they're about to leave, they notice Pin walk across the corridor, so they stay in the classroom and kiss.
After they rehearse the graduation ceremony the next day, the girls and boys walk home with each other. Ayane feels relief at being rejected by Pin, but nevertheless thanks Sawako and Chizuru for the encouragement on that day. She cries at having to be rejected for the first time, by someone she truly loves. Sawako and Chizuru react by crying for her. The following day, the graduation ceremony begins, and everyone attends, although Sawako arrives late. Sawako has to explain herself after several classmates had found stitched heads on their desks, but fortunately, they laugh off the supposed prank. Last but not least, Shouta passes over a story that Chigusa wrote in honor of Sawako.
Chapter 119 - Graduation[]
The graduates arrive at the school hall and take their seats. Sawako is expected to deliver the valedictory on behalf of her year, and had been given encouragement by Shouta just before the event. She steps up to the mic and reads from a script she wrote less than an hour ago. However, she trails off mid-script to say that she no longer cares what name she's called by, because she made friends that helped her feel welcome. She seemingly inserted those lines after reading the story written about her, which also mentioned the boy who understood her. The graduates then sing a graduation hymn, before leaving the hall class-by-class. Back in the Class 3-D classroom, the party atmosphere begins with Sawako popping a party popper. Pin then delivers his final speech before dismissing the class. At the hallway, Sawako compliments Chigusa on the story about her, and gives the passing Kurumi her own special stitch. Her classmate Mogi then congratulates Ayane for getting into Tokyo University. Meanwhile, Chizuru gets hysterical over her friends leaving soon, but Ryu calms her down with a kiss. Shouta has another group photo with some of his year, of which those in his class are wearing the stitches Sawako made. Despite the class being dismissed, Pin is called back over to have one last group photo with Class 3-D. Meanwhile, Sawako hands over a flower memo to a member of staff. Shouta finds her and urges her to join the last class photo. Sawako is left in tears, but Shouta gives his tie to let Sawako wear, and they return to their classroom holding hands. With that, the graduation ceremony ends.
