Chapter 112 - Realization[]
Pin appears to be in a bad mood as he dismisses his class for winter break. As they walk home, Chizuru and Sawako again tease Ayane over falling in love, to which Ayane cries and claims it's impossible. The established couples of Chizuru and Ryu, as well as Sawako and Shouta, meet up for their respective dinners. Sawako and Shouta get embarrassed due to others at the restaurant hearing them talk, but they let go of that in order to kiss each other, as well as exchange presents. Before they return home, Shouta requests a New Year's Eve date with Sawako. Meanwhile, Ryu and Chizuru are at the former's home celebrating, though Chizuru freaks out over Ryu's brother not knowing that they're dating. After winter cram school the next day, Ayane asks if she should buy something for herself. She takes up Kurumi and Sawako's suggestions, only to bump into Pin again on the way home. Pin offers to walk Ayane to the station, only to smell perfume on Ayane. Pin finds it funny that Ayane is using perfume to go to sleep. They end up buying hot drinks at the convenience store and having another strange conversation before finally leaving.
Chapter 113 - Snowstorm[]
The first shrine visit awaits on Sawako's 18th birthday. When Ayane gets a call from Chizuru about it, she initially rules herself out of going, but impulsively makes herself available once told that Pin is coming. Chizuru then calls Sawako and wishes a happy birthday. She is told that Sawako will meet Shouta before visiting the shrine. Later on, Tohru and his family visit Ryu and Chizuru, bringing their nearly one-year-old daughter along. Tohru is happy that Chizuru is getting along like a sister to his wife Haruka. Pin then happens to call Tohru about visiting a shrine, to which Chizuru snatches Tohru's phone to ask Pin to arrive at nine in the morning. When Tohru gets back on the call, he hears no progress from Pin's quest for a girlfriend. When Chizuru gets ready to leave, she finally admits to Tohru that she's going out with his brother. Tohru congratulates her, and Ryu promises not to make her cry.
Just under two hours before midnight, a snowstorm blows. Shouta and Sawako haven't seen each other yet, and both know it would be difficult to. Fortunately, they find each other outside, and because they cannot get to the shrine on time, Shouta retreats to his home with Sawako. The mothers of Sawako and Shouta finally communicate over the phone. Sawako is welcomed back to Shouta's room fitted with a kotatsu. Sawako feels strange whilst sitting underneath the kotatsu, but is finally glad to welcome the new year with Shouta for the first time.
Chapter 114 - Promise[]
Shouta and Sawako kiss a few times before the former finally gives out her birthday present - a heart-shaped ring. Sawako realizes that that was why Shouta asked to hold hands without gloves on. It takes a while before Sawako fits the ring on a suitable finger of hers. Shouta promises to give her a proper ring next time. This leaves Sawako in even more tears, which Shota responds to with another kiss. Finally, they watch TV together before going to bed.
Chapter 115 - Wish[]
Shouta and Sawako's fathers see each other for the first time as well, the latter having visited to pick his daughter up. However, he is welcomed into Shouta's home for a while. Their children, however, are at the shrine along with Ryu, Chizuru and Ayane, the latter arriving late and wearing a face covering. Their long-term classmates Joe, Ekko, Tomo and Chigusa are all there too. Pin arrives last, not happy with Chizuru for lying about who would be there. Ayane speaks up, claiming to be the one Chizuru was talking about, and starts getting flustered again. Kento and his fans notice from a distance, choosing not to intervene. Chigusa helps to take pictures of everyone in the class that came. After they make their prayers and receive their fortunes, the class pressure Pin to buy drinks for them. Ayane chooses to receive her drink last, only to be told Pin ran out of money for hers. Ayane instead asks Pin for an eraser if she passes her exams. After one last group photo, the cast make their way home. Ayane, Chizuru, Sawako, Ryu, Shota and Pin pass over a familiar bridge. Ayane and Chizuru recall worrying about Sawako during their first year, and Sawako suddenly calls them "Yano" and "Yoshida" again. Ayane and Chizuru admit that they've forgotten that Sawako used to call them that way, while Pin didn't expect those five of his students to become friends with each other. Nevertheless, he suggests shouting over the bridge to lift their spirits for the upcoming exams.
