Summary[]
"Even though Sawako is dating Kazehaya, lately he's been distant. When the class Christmas party inspires the bristly Chizu and even insecure Yano into taking the next step in their relationships, Sawako takes drastic action to finally reach Kazehaya."
Contents[]
Chapter 68 - Christmas Gift[]
During the Christmas party held at the karaoke bar, Chizuru acts abrasive around Ryu. Ekko and Tomo then pass a microphone to Sawako, encouraging her to sing karaoke. Chizuru joins her on stage to continue the performance. Even after the performance, Sawako continues to feel nervous around Shouta. Joe, the organiser, notices other couples start to form, and starts asking uncomfortable questions about Sawako's relationship, and in response, Chizuru smacks Joe. Kento offers some relationship advice to Joe, while also saying he can't have Ayane. Eventually, the students get ready to exchange presents in a karaoke roulette. In one round, Chizuru reacts to Joe receiving a present by knocking it off him in front of everyone. Out of embarrassment, she runs out of the karaoke bar, and Ryu follows, taking Chizuru's jacket with him. Meanwhile, Ayane consoles Joe by giving him a wishing stone, but also turns down Joe's advances.
Chapter 69 - To Protect Something[]
Chizuru shoves the karaoke roulette present in Ryu's face, who had just followed her and given her jacket back. She yells that she had bought it for him. Ryu opens it to find a sweatband, and tries it on. In exchange, he gives a present of his own - a pink rose. Back inside the karaoke bar, the cast gossip on what Ryu was doing after following Chizuru. Ayane starts speculating that Chizuru might return feelings for real. Sawako later hides herself but is spotted by Kento, and in turn confesses that she hasn't been able to help Ayane. After Pin gets rebuffed by a nurse he had asked out, he tries to crash the Christmas party, but is stopped by Sawako who sings the "ghost song" from the previous chapter. Pin then sits Sawako down for an honest discussion about her relationship. Meanwhile, Kento encounters Mogi at the male WC.
Chapter 70 - Let Me Care About You[]
Pin and Sawako snoop on Kento's and Mogi's conversation regarding Ayane. They also see Kento push Mogi to the floor, claiming that Mogi hurt Ayane. Sawako responds by running to Ayane herself, while Pin restrains Kento before telling him to leave. Kento does not leave before Ayane arrives with Sawako. Ayane ignores Kento to check on Mogi, who tries to apologize for the failed date. Ayane appears to accept his apology while rejecting him altogether, instead chasing after Kento who had fled to the emergency staircase. There, Kento lends his jacket and admits that he had bought a Christmas present for Ayane - the bouquet that had been trampled on earlier. He also confesses his feelings to Ayane, promising to keep her safe.
Chapter 71 - Holy Night[]
Shouta leaves the karaoke bar area to check on the others. He notices Sawako and Pin tend to Mogi. After Mogi leaves, Pin dismisses Sawako from the scene, and starts talking to Shouta about his love life. Once he finishes, he crashes the karaoke bar area to call time on the party. At the karaoke bar area, Sawako notices Kento with Ayane. The two of them leave together. While on the way out herself, Sawako sees Ryu and Chizuru together, and she gives back Chizuru's belongings. Sawako finally encounters Shouta outside, but both continue to feel awkward around each other, even after hearing gossip about them breaking up. Sawako tries closing her eyes and hoping for a kiss, but when that fails as well, she breaks into tears, calling Shouta a liar and accusing him of no longer liking her. Shouta's response is to kiss her.

Author's Note[]
"Volume 17. This volume is all about Christmas, so the characters get to wear their casual clothes. As a manga artist, I miss drawing their uniforms. They'll get to keep wearing their casual clothes for a little longer, since it's winter break. Oh, right! The cover illustration is meant as a "part two" to volume 1. (Even though they're not wearing the same clothes!)"
Trivia[]
- The back cover features Sawako with roses.[3] In the English publication, this design is on the book's spine.
