Genji Sanada (真田 源次, Sanada Genji) is the father of Toru and Ryu, and is the head chef of the ramen bar frequently visited by the rest of the main cast.

Ryu Sanada[]
In Ryu's third year of high school, Genji is aware of Ryu's wish to continue playing baseball in college and supports his son's plans. During the parent-teacher conference with Pin, Genji expresses his concerns on whether Ryu's grades will be enough for Ryu to attend college and if there are any available opportunities for him. Genji also knows that Ryu may not wish to take over the family's ramen restaurant one day.
Tetsuko Sanada[]
Tetsuko was Genji's wife and the mother of their children. It seems they were deeply in love with each other, since Genji was seen crying and despairing after Tetsuko's death.
Chizuru Yoshida[]
Genji has known Chizuru since she was a child and has always welcomed her to the ramen shop. As Chizuru begins her senior year of high school, Genji offers Chizuru a job at the restaurant and the opportunity to take over running the shop one day, since he doesn't anticipate that either Toru or Ryu have interest in continuing the business.
Etymology[]
- Genji's surname Sanada means "braid, plait" (真田).
