Chapter 88 - Don't Go[]

Chizuru goes on another shift at the ramen bar again. At the end of it, Ryu's father shows a picture of his new grandchild, born to Tohru and his wife, which Chizuru did not know about before. Chizuru leaves some homemade rice balls for Ryu before she leaves and Ryu returns. At her home, Chizuru receives a text from Sawako. Chizuru calls back and requests to visit Sawako, who courteously welcomes her for the night. Just before they sleep, Chizuru admits that Sawako cheered her up, but also admits that she has no particular ambition. The next day, on her way back home, Chizuru notices Ryu jog on the other side of the road, and starts wondering when she started thinking about him. Soon, it's Chizuru's birthday, and for the first time, Chizuru admits to her friends that she misses Ryu. That night, Chizuru sits outside her home, and Ryu happens to pass by. He wishes a happy birthday, but apologizes for not being able to buy a present for her. Ryu also thanks Chizuru for helping out at the ramen bar, and promises to win at baseball for her. Chizuru is overcome with emotion, having realized she was the one depending on Ryu, and pleads for him to not go, although she changes her mind afterwards. It is at this point that Chizuru returns feelings for Ryu, and they finally kiss.

Chapter 89 - Proud of Myself[]

The night after seeing Ryu off, Chizuru immediately regrets what she said. She tells Ayane and Sawako that she had told Ryu not to work so hard. Later on, Kurumi encounters Ayane and Sawako talking about Chizuru, and loses her mind. She projects her insecurities over the upcoming exams, by demanding that Ayane and Sawako study. The two of them pull Kurumi over to a café, where they quickly learn that Kurumi has been hard on herself by not getting enough sleep during her studies. Sawako not only recommends six hours of sleep, but also lets Kurumi be able to contact her if she can't sleep. Kurumi appears to accept Sawako's contact details, and after learning that Sawako is good at math, asks for help on the questions she's stuck at. Once she makes progress on her studies, Kurumi asks if they can study together during cram school break. Sawako accepts, and this impresses Ayane, who has yet to decide for herself what she wants to do. After seeing Ayane off, Sawako and Kurumi shake hands, turning a new corner in their relations with each other.

Chapter 90 - A Mistake[]

Ayane goes out with Kento for the night, and reveals what was happening to Kurumi, thinking that her situation is similar. She also reveals that she was holding off on getting a recommendation because she wanted to aim for Tokyo University. She immediately backtracks for fear of failure, realizing she's an idiot. Even her mother tells Ayane not to blame anyone after hearing from her daughter that she's quitting cram school. The day after, Sawako and Shouta notice that their mock exam results were an improvement on before. They also notice that the cultural festival is coming up - the previous year's cultural festival was the one where Shouta officially announced his relationship with Sawako. Later on, Shouta meets up with Kento during after-school training, and Kento reveals what he heard from Ayane, worrying that he hasn't been considerate of her. Shouta claims to understand how Kento is feeling. Soon, Shouta and Sawako feel uneasy about their relationship potentially drifting apart due to their career choices, but choose not to act on those worries.

Chapter 91 - That's Where We Meet[]

On their way to cram school together, Kurumi and Sawako both admit to unproductive habits while studying, but feel as though they can get more done while around each other. Sawako thus invites Kurumi over to her house to study, but Kurumi rejects, though is open to an invitation over the summer. Soon, Sawako realizes that she hasn't been spending much time with Shouta since declaring to become a teacher. She gives him a phone call and gasps when he mentions the same thing. She ends up agreeing to meet in class earlier the next morning. She arrives the next morning to see Shouta just as tired as she is, though their conversation is productive, and they agree to meet up every morning for them. On another day, Sawako meets up with Ayane and Chizuru at the rooftop to have lunch, also for the first time in a while. Chizuru finally admits to having a relationship with Ryu, but blames herself for straying from her original aspiration. Because she's in a relationship with Ryu, she can no longer cheer for him on baseball, in case it means he gets a scholarship to continue playing baseball at university. The next day, Sawako encounters Shouta already asleep at their scheduled meeting time and place.
